UGANDA CHESS TO ALIGN WITH THE SPORTS ACT

Uganda Chess Federation Takes Steps to Align with New Sports Act

The Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) held a Special General Meeting today to review and align its constitution with the National Council of Sports (NCS) demands, as per the new Sports Act. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Bakiza Andrew, brought together 16 national delegates, 5 NEC members, and several chess community members.

A 9-member committee has been formed to review the constitution, comprising members with expertise in Ugandan law and chess. The committee includes

Counsel Mwase Moses (chair)

Isaac Munanira

Okiring Fred

Counsel Shakira Ampaire

IA Christopher Turyahabwe

Alfred Agaba

Counsel Kafuko Paul

Ikemat Ezekiel & Katula Frobisha

They will steer the federation’s alignment with the new Act before June 2026.

After hours of reviewing the NCS document, attendees shared a meal and captured memories with a group photo at 5 pm. 😊

UCF is committed to meeting the NCS requirements and strengthening Ugandan chess. More updates to follow.
