The Outgoing UCF Executive

Uganda Chess Federation Elects New Leadership

The Uganda Chess Federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 30th, 2025, will be etched in history as a day of transition and new beginnings. Outgoing two-term team, led by Eng. Mwaka Emmanuel and his vice, Otim Emmanuel, handed over the reins to a new executive, marking a significant milestone in the country’s chess journey.

Under Mwaka’s leadership, Uganda Chess witnessed notable improvements, including the federation’s elevation from tier 3 to tier 2 with increased funding. The outgoing team’s efforts have laid a strong foundation for the new team to build upon.

The highlight of the day was the elections, which saw 28 delegates determine the fate of Ugandan chess for the next four years. The results were as follows:

  • President: Mr. Bakiza Andrew (14 votes)
  • Vice President: Mr. Mande Allan Benjamin (16 votes)
  • General Secretary: Mr. Okas Walter (26 votes, unopposed)
  • Treasurer: Mr. Muwanguzi David (16 votes)
  • Women’s Affairs: Ms. Nakiirya Victoria (15 votes)

The elections were smoothly conducted by the returning officers, Rugyendo Brian and Musaasizi Emmanuel.

In his acceptance speech, the new UCF President, Mr. Andrew Bakiza, pledged to lead the team to new heights, building on the progress made by the predecessors. The federation looks forward to the new executive’s vision and leadership in taking Ugandan chess to greater heights.

The event was a celebration of Ugandan chess, with many notable moments captured in pictures. We congratulate the new leadership and wish them the best in their endeavors.
