The local chess community swapped tactical battles for a celebration of true love as Jude Kalanzi and Joan Margaret Nabukenya officially tied the knot. The atmosphere was electrifying, filled with smiles, laughter, and overwhelming warmth as two souls celebrated a milestone that united the sports and academic circles of Kampala.

Their story began years ago at Makerere University (MUK), where their pathways crossed, sparking a romantic journey that steadily grew into an unwavering partnership. While Jude pursued his professional career as an engineer, his passion for chess inspired him to found the Great Thinkers Chess Academy. Over the past five years, the academy blossomed into a vibrant hub for youth development, bringing him into the hearts and lives of hundreds of young minds.
Through his coaching, Jude built a second family at key partner institutions, particularly Peak Primary School and Kampala Academy Primary. The young players he mentored at these schools grew into formidable forces on the local chess circuit. Today, those very children—accompanied by their parents—turned up in full support to cheer on their beloved coach as he stepped into this new chapter of life.
