The top boards featured some of the country’s top players, with FM Harold and FM Patrick battling it out on board 2, and IM Arthur and FM Haruna engaging in a fierce battle for the top spot on board 1. The intensity of their games was palpable, with IM Arthur ultimately edging out FM Haruna in a thrilling encounter that will be remembered for years to come.

One of the most poignant moments of the tournament came from FM Bob Bibasa, a close friend of the late Kantinti Shadrach. FM Bibasa’s dedication to honoring his friend’s memory was evident in his emotional plea to continue playing in the tournament.
