UCF Rwabushenyi Memorial Open Chess Championship 2023 in Progress

The Rwabushenyi Memorial Open Chess Championship 2023 started on Thursday 7th December with games in the Open Category. it is being held at Nob View Hotel Ntinda from the 7th to the 10th of December 2023 (4 day event). The defending champion is FM Harold Wanyama who isn’t playing this year’s edition. The event is sponsored by Uganda Civil Aviation Authority in memory of Cyril Rwabushenyi, who is a former UCF President (1996 – 1998) and worked as a Director with CAA.

The tournament is being held in 3 categories; the Open (123 registered players) , Ladies (56 registered players) and Juniors sections (77 registered players), giving an overall total of 256 chess players registered for the event across the 3 sections.
